Here’s part two: Generative AI will start spiraling
2023 was clearly the year of Generative AI, and what a year it was. But 2024 will be the year of witnessing its decline. The main protagonist in the rise of Generative AI is OpenAI, a company that clinched 100 million users and $1 billion in revenue for ChatGPT… in 12 months. That’s something to write home about. In fact, there are now hundreds of billions of dollars pouring into AI, with most of that going to OpenAI.
But it’s not just all VC speculation. Generative AI has also seen a huge swath of large corporations adopt the technology in some shape or form.
So clearly the hype is substantiated. A lot of capital was invested into this category over 2023 with some incredible utility and value, with major corporations all over the world adopting the technology. But hype always ends.
